On gathering places
OPENING FRAME
In architecture, interiors and products meant to facilitate gathering, we see the artful interplay of light and movement. These projects share a subtle choreography: geometry guides the eye, illumination frames ritual. It’s about design that pulses when human presence meets the elemental.
SIGNAL OF THE WEEK
Centre de Congrès, Université Mohammed VI Polytechnique
Designed by Bofill Taller de Arquitectura, the Centre de Congrès is a sovereign gesture in campus landscape. The conference centre features a towering circular well of light that descends upon a square auditorium, with grand arches that invite entry and courtyard views connecting building and terrain.
OBJECT OF NOTE
Foscarini Chouchin 1 suspension lamp
Inspired by Japanese paper lanterns, this blown‑glass fixture features a warm, opaque orange top and a white lower collar that emits a ring of diffused light. The layered material creates atmosphere and holds its own charming gravity within a room.
LIVING WELL
The EVE Hotel, by SJB Architects
Tucked into Sydney’s Wunderlich Lane precinct, the hotel blends art, craft and nature: arched windows, terracotta tones, rooftop palm pool, balcony rooms with private views. A true urban retreat where design anchors place and presence.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
“Gatherings crackle and flourish when real thought goes into them, when (often invisible) structure is baked into them.”
— Priya Parker
